I Chose You-zh
I Chose You
Roots
Your roots
- It wasn’t a choice
- Does it mean anything to you?
- Are you proud to be part of it
To be Rooted
Your choice
- Is not by force
- It mean something to you
- You want to be associated with it
- Rooted means :-
when one thing is rooted in another, it is based on it, has developed from it, or is influenced by it.
- The way you think, act or behave have all got to do with it.
Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Fact is:
- Not only did you choose God, but he first choose you
- Will we stay rooted in Christ even when things seem bleak?
- Disappointment cause us to give up or lose hope
- Consider Jeremiah
Jeremiah 1:1-3
The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. The word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiahson of Amon king of Judah, and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile
- A prophet for 5 generations of Kings
2 Kings 22:1-2 (Josiah*18 years)
2 Kings 23:31-32 (Jehoahaz -3 months)
2 Kings 23:36-37 (Jehoiakim -11 years)
2 Kings 24:8-9 (Jehoiachin -3 months)
2 Kings 24:18-20 (Zedekiah -11 years)
- Total of 40 years
- Easy to stay rooted when things are easy and ppl are responding well
- God need ppl to stay faithful to calling. It won't happen when we give up easily
- Learn from Jeremiah how to stay faithful even during the time when it is not the most glorious
Jeremiah 1:4-5
The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
- God calls you
- If we can see as Jeremiah, you know you will lived it.
- Is important we embrace this. Believe there is a plan.
- IT'S PERSONAL!
Jeremiah 1:6-8
“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
- Is really not about us and what we can do. Is all about God and what he can do.
- Sometimes we make excuses
- Is ok if we don't know
- God knows our limit
- IT'S A PRIVILEGE!
Colossians 2:6-7
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Jeremiah 1:9-10
Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
- Before we can built and plant We need to uproot / tear down / overthrow
- Many don't like process
- It takes time. If you trust God then we got to trust the process too
- IT'S A PROCESS!
Jeremiah 1:17-19
“Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them. Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
- I am with you and will rescue you.
- When we say, you can't do it...is all lies from Satan
- God didn't say there is no challenges but God will build us a great city and will rescue us.
- IT'S POWERFUL!
