Plug Into The Power of Prayer

Mark 14:36 (NIV)
[36] "Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."
Romans 8:15 (NIV)
[15] The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Galatians 4:4 (NIV)
[4] But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, [5] to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. [6] Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”

Abba, Father
- the words "Abba, Father" are used together only three times in Scripture. Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6
- in each occurrence it has a loving and respectful reference to the Father in heaven
- let us seek to have this loving attitude towards God the Father

It is done intimately and with respect

The Difference between an unmediated relationship vs a mediated relationship
Unmediated Relationship
- Based primary on emotion (either love of fear
- Reliance on power to maintain it
- Emotional Love gets translated into the desire to control
Mediated Relationship
- Live out through Jesus & his love
- Allow Christ to set boundaries for the relationship
- Obedience & Christ way will be the way
So when we cry Abba father, remember the privileged we have in our prayer.

Matthew 26:36-44 (NIV)
[36] Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." [37] He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. [38] Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me." [39] Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
[40] Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn't you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. [41] “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
[42] He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
Jesus the son of God, supposed to be perfect
When HE became the human form, HE became one of us, HE feel like us
Isaiah 51:17
[17] Awake, awake!
Rise up, O Jerusalem,
you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord
the cup of wis wrath,
you who have drained to its dregs
the goblet that makes men stagger.
Many other Old Testament passages use the metaphor of the cup as a reference to God’s fierce judgment.
Jesus’s Prayer in Gethsemane was a Prayer of Surrender
Prayer of Ask, Request etc
God Promised he will be there for us, he promised to hear our prayers, He even promised that he will answer our prayer
But God DID NOT PROMISED to give us what we asked for...
