Listen!
For the Lord has Spoken

Hebrews 1:1-2
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

How God Spoke to the Prophets
- a voice from heaven
- dreams
- face to face
- visions
- angels
- Holy Spirit

2 Peter 1:20-21
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Isaiah 1:2
Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!
For the LORD has spoken…

- When the Lord speaks, we must therefore listen

1. The Lord has spoken but are we listening?

Hebrews 2:1
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

- pay the most careful attention

Isaiah 28:23
Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say.

- so that you do not drift away

Hebrews 6:19
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching…

2. The Lord has spoken, do not harden your heart

Hebrews 3:7-8
So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert

Jeremiah 11:7-8
From the time I brought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again, saying, “Obey me.” But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubbornness of their evil hearts.

Jeremiah 13:15
Hear and pay attention, do not be arrogant, for the Lord has spoken.
