Refining Our Attitude - Choose Joy Part 2
Refining Our Attitude - Choose Joy Part 2
Joy is a choice. The level of joy you experience is completely and totally up to us
If our definition is not accurate, we will assume that joy and happiness are the same…
Joy is a settled conviction ABOUT God. It’s a quiet confidence IN God. And joy is a determined choice to give my praise TO God.
Choosing the Life of Joy
Philippians 4:4-5
Acts 16:22-24 (Paul's flashback)
What is your flashback if you were Paul?
Not only that, when the book of Philippian is being written, Paul is in prison... He is not discourage but pump up
Acts 16:1-40
Paul’s memory of Philippi Church
-Founded during 2nd missionary journey.
-Lydia and her family’s conversion.
-Rebuked slave girl and evil spirit left her, owner angry cos she can no longer foretell.
-Jailer’s and his entire family’s conversion
Philippians 1:19-21
Paul’s thought about God is stronger that how he feels
Most believe that “I needed to feel differently before I could think or do differently”
Eg. If I don’t feel like I want to forgive, that I am not going to do anything about …..
...That is not true!...
What we think determines how we act, and how we act determines how we feels
Our THINKING changes first,
Our ACTION comes next and
Our FEELINGS follows.
James 1:2-4 (Amp)
"Count" & "Know" - Those are words that have to do with our mind, how we think and the way we look at a situation
Joy begins in the Mind. Joy starts with the way we think that changes how respond to trials in our lives.
