All The King's Daughters (zh)
All The King's Daughters
Burt Ong
Mother's Day is the third most celebrated holiday. Over 145 million cards are sent, $14.6 billion spent on gifts and dinners, 69% of those gifts are flowers. More long distance calls will be made today than any other day of the year.
Interesting to look out for women in Bible that stands out: Esther, Ruth, Naomi, Sarah, Deborah, Abigail, Rachael, Lydia, Mary & Martha
How about the Daughters of Zelophehad?
Numbers 27:1-4
These girls came before Moses and they asked an unusual thing. Israel does not have an inch of land yet. God's promise that they would have the land, they are already dividing it up by faith. Faith is the key note here. Is the one key to obtaining blessing from God.
1. Faith in ASKING
These five girls emphasize for us that these becomes our experience only when we act upon it and that is, when we exercise faith. So often we give in before even making the first step of faith. NOT POSSIBLE !!!! Consider these five girls situation
We are all HIS daughters figuratively speaking. We are the church his bride. Jesus is the groom. God promise us his inheritance. (approximately 30,000 promises in the Bible)
What are you asking for today?
Matthew 7:7-12
Asking in Greek translation literally means to beg
Begging is very different from asking. When someone is begging, it is out of desperation-there is no other choice. If they don’t ask they will not get. It is about survival.
Why does Jesus teach us that we must come before God and beg Him?
Does he like to see us grovel? Jesus is trying to teach that if you understand your need for God, you would be begging! If you don’t, you’re like beggars who don’t realize he should be begging!
Without him, it is impossible to survive spiritually. Is a daily affair because we need the strength to face different challenges and obstacles everyday.
We all have enough to handle daily and struggles to go through daily. So why don’t we ask? Why don’t we beg?
2. Believed in the Impossible
What made them hope like they did? What made them even think they have the chance to inherin this land? Eveything looked against them. No one ever contemplated such a situation. The law point the exact opposite
However the offer of the land to Israel was not made on the basis of law
God had never said that Israel should earn the land, but it was a gift of His grace to them. This removed completely the realm of custom and law to the relationships of grace. Then, it was not law they were dealing with, but love.
The truth that grace can give what law cannot. What the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin. This is what these girls discovered – that when they were dealing with law, it was hopeless.
Romans 8:31-32
Nothing is impossible with God. Love covers a multitude of sins
If all failed…..remember 1 Corinthians 13:8 – Love Never Fails
