Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
[6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
1. Breaking up the unplowed ground
Hosea 10:12 (NIV)
[12] Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you.
Well tilled soil
- allows moisture and nutrients to enter seed, allows room for the tiny growth coming out of a seed and send out roots that draw in additional nourishments
Hebrew word for unplowed - nir
Meaning land that is unusable because it has not been tilled
Israelite wandered for 40 years
They complained, some reacted, bitter, etc
Israelites were hungry
They are well fed yet they still complained
Emotional pain is hard
Naturally we want to avoid it
Numbers 14:28-30 (NIV)
Say to them, ‘As I live, declares the LORD, what you have said in my hearing I will do to you: your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and of all your number, listed in the census from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against me, not one shall come into the land where I swore that I would make you dwell, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

2. From Trigger to Healing
Understanding our trigger
A trigger is anything that sets you off emotionally and activates memories of your trauma.
The Israelites triggered
They all blamed Moses. They could no longer see what God has done for them bringing them out of slavery
Skin Pain
Skin pain, when somethings cut our skin we immediately would know the cause, location & severity of the wound
Muscle Pain
Usually originate some place different than where it shows up. This is where trigger points come in.
That’s how triggers looks like

Interestingly in Chinese Foot Massage, the part that pain, links to a specific area of the body..
Triggers sends warning
Our triggers sends out warning for us to understand the deeper root of our hurts and pains
When we do not understand our trigger,
Presses:
When we get triggered, our current pain presses on past pain which is buried within soul
AMPLIFIES:
& our undealt past pains amplifies the pain of current situation, causing the overreaction.
ADDICTIVE:
Unconsciously we guard against more pain or medicate it with addiction behaviors
- Triggers are not valid excuses to justify pouring abuse to others
- Triggers do not justify picking up our weapons to hurt the one that hurt us
Rather, triggers help us to understand ourselves!
Self Sacrifice:
Wanting to be acknowledge, to be accepted, not to be abandon/ rejected. It doesn't help as I become so entitled to people I care if I am ignored.
Unrelenting standard:
Not wanting to have “the eldest son syndrome”. As an eldest son, everything bad, I am at fault, I am responsible for everything (triggers my defectiveness)… Hence I press on perfection, controlling, so that I don’t have to take any blame
Punitive:
This is where all my rejection, abandonment, entitled surfaced (from self sacrifice), instead of learning to have healthy grief, when triggered, I would be quick to shoot/ counter attack, controlling etc.
